Welcome to our new webpage! Bare with me as I update and make changes to this site. We are one of the largest hunting clubs in North Georgia. We offer a strong food plot program. Our photos page will be updated as members send in photos they'd like posted here. Our dues this year are $575.00 per person. We also have "family" dues for spouses and dependents 18 and under. If you are looking for a "its brown its down" club, good luck in your search. We obey all state hunting rules and regulations. Our club rules are more stringent than the state rules are. We've adopted many of the QDMA ideas and suggestions and conformed them to benefit our herds. Because of our program, we've seen an increase in the size and health of our deer herds. We have a three (3) doe, 90lbs rule this season and a four (4) on one side, with a 12 inch spread rule on our bucks.
Cobb’s Legion Hunting Club Rules
Statement from Club Management
A rigid set of clearly defined and consistently enforced rules is a crucial cornerstone to any good hunting club. While not intended to be exhaustive, the following rules are set forth by Steve Seals (henceforth know as Club Management) to provide order and structure by setting the expectations of ANYONE granted the privilege of access to the leases (for camping, hunting or any other reasons). When in doubt, apply common sense or ask Club Management.
Administration and Application of Rules
In addition to the rules of Cobb’s Legion Hunting Club as set forth by Club Management, ANYONE allowed the privilege of access to the leases of Cobb’s Legion Hunting Club must abide by ALL federal, state, and county laws. NOTE: ANYONE violating this rule is subject to immediate removal from the club and its leases at the discretion of Club Management with absolutely no refund of dues. Members will be held accountable for the actions of their spouses and children.
Rules are effective August 15th of each year through May 15th of the following years.
To be eligible to hunt, each member must sign the signature page of the rules and submit it to Club Management prior to hunting.
Upon joining the club each year, each member will be provided a copy of the rules.
If any changes are made to the rules at anytime, an update of the changes will be provided to members.
In addition to the paper copies distributed, current rules will always be maintained and available on our website www.cobbslegionhuntingclub.com
ALL rules apply to ALL members and member dependents (for the purposes of this document, “member dependent” is defined as a spouse and/or minor children under age 18) of Cobb’s Legion Hunting Club.
Enforcement of the rules is solely the responsibility Club Management.
Any questions or concerns pertaining to interpretation or application of the rules should be directed to Club Management.
Any situation arising that is not specifically addressed in the rules will be addressed at the sole discretion of Club Management and incorporated into the rules as necessary.
Members are encouraged to suggest rule additions and changes to Club Management for consideration.
Club Management reserves the right to change or add a rule at anytime to address club needs.
Any questions or concerns pertaining to the lease agreements in place for Cobb’s Legion Hunting Club should be directed to Club Management.
Membership in Cobb’s Legion Hunting Club is at the sole discretion of Club Management.
Membership allows a member access to the club leases for a ten (10) month period for hunting of any game for which there is an open season and camping in the designated are with the exception of QUAL. NO QUAL HUNTING IS ALLOWED AT ANY TIME
Membership includes the cost of time, fertilizer and seed (variety to be determined by Club Management) for all food plots.
Members receive an identification card and windshield decal upon payment of dues in full.
Members must have their member identification card at all times while on the property. You may be asked to show the card by law enforcement officers, Club Management, or club members.
Membership is effective from August 15th of each year through May 15th of the following year (First day of squirrel season until the last day of turkey season).
After deer season, the previous year’s members (in good standing with the club) will be given first opportunity to join the club for the following season and will have until April 15th of the following year to confirm. New members will be accepted based on availability of open membership slots after April 15th of each year.
Cobb’s Legion Hunting Club has a Guest Policy.
Member and Member Dependents Conduct
Loud, boisterous or otherwise offensive behavior is not allowed. We are all adults and should be respectful of our fellow members and member dependents. Issues will be addressed at the discretion of Club Management with actions up to and including eviction from the club with no refund of dues.
No arguing allowed between members or member dependents. We are all adults and should work to resolve any differences in a civilized manner. Such issues will be addressed at the discretion of Club Management with actions up to and including eviction form the club with no refund of dues.
a. Member must be present at the club leases in order for a dependent to hunt.
b. Member is responsible for his/her dependent(s).
c. Member dependents are subject to the same rules, fees and/or fines as members.
d. Dependents of a member can hunt anytime accompanied by the member in any hunting area.
No small game hunting or any type during deer season.
Use of Pin Board Map
A pin board map of the property is maintained including pins for hunting areas.
A pin must be placed on or removed from the map any time a member enters or exits any hunting areas. This includes, but is not limited to the following activities:
c.) Moving a stand
d.) Retrieving a stand
e.) Retrieving a harvested animal
f.) Filling a feeder
g.) Any other reason
If after entering any hunting area, a member decides to move, that person must return to the pegboard and move his/her pin accordingly. NOTE: Use of electronic communications (walkie talkies, cell phones, etc.) to notify members in camp so they may move a pin is acceptable.
Stand(s) – We have a two (2) stand limit
For the purposes of this document, “stand(s)” is defined as a shooting house, portable climber, lock-on, ladder or any other type of stand placed by a member for use during deer season.
Stands placed in any area by a member may be used at any time without the member’s permission; however, rules for hunting areas as list below apply. Use COMMON SENSE in this, a stand DOES NOT hold an area. However some object to others using their stand. If a stand is not marked, then it is considered abandoned, if it is marked then please use your stand close to it.
This rule applies to deer season only.
All hunting areas are hunted on a first come first serve basis. Be courteous of other members and allow everyone a chance to hunt these areas.
Use a magic marker, flagging tape, or a baggie and an index card and mark your stand with your name and current season.
If you pin in on a hunting area and hunt it for one hunt (morning or evening hunt), return to camp and remove the pin upon return to camp and allow other members the chance to hunt it. If no one pins in feel free to pin in for a second hunt.
Members can hunt any areas on a first come first serve basis at anytime during the season.
Use of Land and Trees
ALL members must respect the land on which we hunt. It is leased and does not belong to us so treat it the way you would want your own person property treated.
Only dead and down trees may be taken for firewood.
No cutting of trees (especially pine trees) is allowed.
No items (e.g., nails, screws, etc.) may be driven into any tree for any purpose.
Use of Gates
All members must use gates for entry and exit to camp and hunting areas. Do not drive around them.
At the end of a hunt prior to departure from club property all gates are to be locked.
The following kill limits apply to members and member’s dependents.
ANYONE violating the rules on kill limits will be immediately evicted from the club and its leases with absolutely no refund of dues or guest fees. Members will be held accountable for the actions of their spouses and children.
A deer killed by a dependent of a member does not count toward the member’s deer kill limits.
Two (2) buck per season is allowed for anyone with the privilege of hunting the club lease. The bucks must be a minimum of 4 points on one side and have a minimum of 12 inch spread.
Button bucks shall not be shot. However, sometimes accidents do happen. Any member shooting a button buck shall be subject to the following schedule of fines:
First offense - $100
Second offense - $150 and possible eviction from club at Club Management discretion
Members and member’s dependents are allowed to kill two (2) antlerless deer per person per season.
The deer harvest logbook and camera must be used to record each deer taken.
Record all required information to the best of your ability in the logbook.
Take a picture of the deer to accompany the completed logbook sheet if at all possible.
Deer may be field dressed in the field or in camp. If field dressed in camp, entrails shall be dumped at the designated site as indicated by Club Management.
There are presently no additional club restrictions on the harvesting of turkey.
Hunting of other animals is not to be done during any portion of deer season.
Use of Bait/Feeders/Food Plots
Use of Bait:
ANYONE allowed the privilege of access to the leases of Cobb’s Legion Hunting Club may not hunt within 200 yards of or in direct line of sight of any bait or feed. This is in compliance with current law at the time of publication of these rules, February 28, 2008.
In the event that any laws are passed that allow for the hunting of ANY game animal using bait, Cobb’s Legion Hunting Club WILL NOT allow such practices on its leases and rule 10.1.1 above will remain in full force and effect.
ANYONE violating the rules on use of bait or feed will be immediately evicted from the club and its leases with absolutely no refund of dues. Members will be held accountable for the actions of their spouses and dependents.
Members are allowed to place personal feeders subject to rules 10.1.1, 10.1.2, and 10.1.3 above throughout the property year round solely at the member’s expense and responsibility.
The club will provide time, fertilizer and see (varied to be determined by Club Management) for all presently established food plots.
The club will lime, fertilize and plant as many food plots as practical within budget, time constraints, and manpower.
Seed purchased will consist of high protein seed and clover and may be changed at the discretion of Club Management.
Members are NOT allowed to plant anything in the clubs food plots. These are planted by the Club.
Any member wishing to plant a food plot on a vehicle access road should expect the food plot to be driven on.
Vehicles (Including ATVs)
Vehicle use will be kept to a minimum during prime morning and evening hunting hours during deer and turkey season.
Vehicles may be used while traveling to and from hunting areas to hunt.
Vehicles may be used from 10 am – 2:30 pm for scouting, stand maintenance and setup.
Vehicles will not be parked in a manner that blocks any road or gate.
Vehicles may be used anytime to retrieve a harvested animal, however on a cool/cold morning in consideration of other hunters try to wait until 10 am.
Joy riding on any club maintained road is not allowed during deer or turkey season. While we cannot prohibit use of country roads, we do ask that you are courteous to other members.
If you are the last person to leave camp for the weekend, lock the cable behind you.
Members will be called in as needed for work days.
Members and member’s spouses (only) are allowed to consume alcoholic beverages after hunting hours ONLY! If you drink ANY alcohol during hunting hours, either go home or stay in camp.
No minors (under the age of 21) are allowed to consume alcoholic beverages at anytime while on club property.
No hunting while under the influence of alcoholic beverages. (NOTE: We are all adults and must exercise sound judgment with regard to this rule.)
Club Management reserves the right to remove any member or member’s dependent from hunting if the member is deemed to be impaired due to the consumption of alcoholic beverages.
At no time is ANYONE allowed to use or be under the influence of illegal drugs while on the club leases.
Garbage and Littering
All garbage is to be removed from the property upon departure at the end of each visit to the property. Garbage is not to be disposed of in fire pit or left behind for other members to clean up. No littering in any form is allowed.
Membership dues for 2016/2017 are currently set at $575 per member. Should the lease price(s) increase, expect a dues increase that will be divided across all members equally. Many factors influence dues such as lease improvements, lease cost, and number of members. This is evaluated on an annual basis. Club Management strives to keep this fee as low as practical while still maintaining a solid hunting opportunity for all members.
To make certain we have collected all money necessary to renew the lease in a timely manner, we have adopted a payment schedule. Any member may pay their dues in full anytime, but the incremental payments schedule must be met at a minimum or we will seek to fill the hunting sport from the waiting list.
Dues payments are non-refundable after July 1st BUT hardship cases will be reviewed on a case by case basis and refunds and/or adjusted payment schedules if any will be made solely at the discretion of Club Management. Individual payment plans are available, please discuss with Steve.
Dependents (wife and children under 18 living at home) may be added to your membership for $100 each.
Fees and fines are set forth in the preceding rules. Any questions should be directed to Club Management.
Any fee or fine incurred by a member MUST be paid within two weeks (14 days) or the member’s hunting privileges will be suspended.
